Why you should visit the Kingdom of Cultures Exhibit
The exhibit currently being held at Ithra’s Great Hall speaks to the Kingdom’s beautiful people, their stories and its’ vast landscapes. Along your journey, you will be guided through a number of stations, each section offering you rare and unique content and insight. An exhibit delivered through the use of immersive technology to give you a fully engaging experience. Here are a few reasons why you should visit.
1- A story about kinship
Walking through the first section of the exhibit, you will feel an instant connection to the faces you see around you, as if you could hear the stories that are being told through the eyes of those people. Faces you can almost recognize.
As a society, our diversity is what makes us stronger. Creating this sense of connection supports in building healthy, happy and vibrant communities.
2- The art of traditional dance
Saudi folklore has long been a part of the Kingdom’s history. These arts are representations of various significant occasions throughout Saudi Arabia’s growth and development. Our dances tell stories of pride and celebrating the glories of a land and the values of its people.
Here, you can learn the basic steps of four traditional dances known in the Kingdom. This station offers a fun step by step guide that reveals the cultural depth of these dances and historical significance.
3- The craft and the artisan
A delicate art. People of the Kingdom have inherited knowledge about specific crafts, and it is our responsibility to ensure continuity. Raising awareness about these skills and how they are crucial to our culture will foster a transfer of skills and knowledge throughout generations.
At this station, you will listen to the artisan’s voices and watch them tell their beautiful stories. Learn about how these crafts connect us with nature and our surrounding elements, teaching us to push beyond what is evident to create something new.
4- Myths of the land
Legends and myths depict vividly colorful pictures in many different cultures. Arab civilization is amongst the most creative of story-tellers, often telling tales of intrigue while adding layers of mysticism and enigma to what would otherwise be considered ordinary.
At this section of the exhibit, you will listen to fairytales that have been told throughout generations. Understand where the saying “Love can move mountains” comes from, learn about the importance of family bonds, and always be wary of that which glitters.
