Mohammed Siddique Bhati

Mohammed Siddique Bhati is a master stone carver from the historic quarry town of Makrana in Rajasthan, India, the site of the marble quarries from which the Mughal emperors sourced marble for their immense architectural projects. Bhati is from an unbroken family line of stone carvers that dates back to the Mughal era. He has been a lead master artisan at Saray Design, founded and directed by Mitchell Abdul Karim Crites, for more than 30 years. Their projects include the inlaid columns at the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi, and the world’s longest monumental calligraphic marble panels inlaid with lapis lazuli for the important Al Shamiya Extension project in Makkah.
