Program Brief

This course welcomes anyone interested in joining the cultural press community. This engaging five-day course will take you on a journey into the world of cultural press. It will explain what this form of press is, its meaning, and its importance.

Participants will start by discovering the meaning of cultural publishing, its importance, and the difference between cultural press and literary press. The literary press focuses on novels, cinematography, music, and so on.

Following that, participants will work on developing the necessary abilities in order to become specialists in this field. Choosing the right idea or story; selecting the appropriate genre; analyzing the idea; having prior understanding of the idea; keeping up with current events throughout the world. These abilities will therefore assist in the flexible, perfect, and professional writing of the idea in the chosen genres.

Participants will also obtain a thorough understanding of the many cultural journalism genres during this course; press releases, press reports, press interviews, book reviews, profiles, investigations, and more genres are among them. They will gain the necessary abilities and select high-interest stories with the assistance of excellent mentors and facilitators. This will ensure that they get off to a good start with a solid foundation in order to publish their work with Ithra Academy's support.

Objectives:

1. Acquiring knowledge of the meaning of cultural press, what it provides, its importance, and genres.
2. Differentiating between the genres including: press announcement, press story, press interview, book review, profile, and press investigation.
3. Developing a skillset aimed at producing a wide range of cultural press genres.
4. Celebrating high-quality work by publishing it in well-known publications such as Alshrq Al-Awsat, Okaz, alqabas, and others, to empower participants and set them on their first professional steps in the world of cultural journalism.
