Effective leaders know how to connect well with people, listen, resolve conflict, and speak in a way that others can understand; unique traits not everyone masters.
While interpersonal intelligence focuses on our ability to understand, articulate, and be aware of what’s going on inside of us (self-awareness), interpersonal intelligence (relationship skills) allows us to navigate the realm of relationships with ease and facility.
In the context of nonprofit work (volunteering), the skills we need are more crucial; as leaders need to identify their own emotions, emotional triggers, be able to observe people’s emotions they are in contact with, manage their feelings, and work together in coherence.
