In this one-day hands-on design workshop, participants will closely observe common objects such as cameras, chairs, kitchen tools, etc, and they will uncover the often overlooked gap between habitual use and actual user needs. Through group engagement with these objects, we’ll ask critical questions: Is this object truly serving its purpose, or have we adapted ourselves around its limitations? Who was it designed for, and who was excluded?
By unpacking layers of habit and cultural norms, participants will redesign seating furniture as prototypes, developing alternative versions that more closely align with contextual needs. This workshop aims to unlearn assumptions, challenge design defaults, and rethink the familiar through a critical, human-centered lens.
