Explore creativity through hands-on experiences that merge tradition, craftsmanship, and innovation. Each session invites participants to experiment through using different materials and techniques. These interactive activities celebrate process, play, and imperfection, encouraging everyone to discover new ways of making and reimagining the future of design.
This session explores the idea of connections and the relationship or link between different elements, whether physical, emotional, functional, or conceptual. In design, connections create coherence and meaningful interaction between people, objects, spaces, and ideas. In this hands-on experience, participants will create small-scale models and compositions using cardboard, exploring how basic shapes can convey aesthetic meaning and evoke emotions.
Embracing the irregularities of hand-building, this session will capture the essence of exploring, refining, and transforming imperfection into intentional features that add meaning and vitality. Lines bend, twist, forming unique shapes through tension, balance, with joining and fixing as the most crucial stage.
The use of wire, an accessible medium, enables pushing techniques while blending intuitive making with structural thinking.
In this session, participants get to create a painting on a canvas with the use of augmented reality glasses. The session explores the usage of technology in art creation, blurring the line between technology and artisan, and encourages us to re-think of modern and future tech, not as a replacement to rooted and valuable methods, but as additional tools that will aid our generation in pushing the boundaries of art and design.
In this session, participants are invited to create their own printed postcards using a curated collection of block-printing patterns developed by the Ithra Design Society in collaboration with Barq House Studio. By layering shapes, colors, and textures, they were able to compose a visual story that is spontaneous, personal, and entirely your own.
Printmaking is one of the oldest forms of creative expression. Throughout history, it has been used to share ideas, reflect identity, and convey emotion. This experience invites participants to slow down, explore, and discover the beauty that emerges through process, play, and imperfection.
This session invites participants to explore the unspoken layers of spaces through sound and memory. By attuning to the soundscape, we’ll focus on how environments hold personal and collective stories: what feelings or memories do they evoke? What traces do they leave?
Through writing, drawing, or mark-making, participants will anchor these reflections in time and material, forming a collective patchwork of echoes and traces.
In this experience, paper will be recycled and dyed using natural colors such as turmeric, cinnamon, and paprika, then repurposed into sustainable building blocks using Cubcho’s design system.
These eco-friendly blocks encourage both children and adults to explore designing their own tools through a slower, more mindful process. In a digital world, Cubcho represents a return to handcrafted practices, inspiring users to see new materials as a journey toward a deeper understanding of sustainability.
