Like “Disruption”, “Play” and “The New Next” before it, this year’s theme “Tools” will explore an aspect of the creative process and tap into how cultural and creative industries continue to innovate and steer the future of the creative economy – highlighting the tools at their disposal.
From the first stone hammer to modern-day technology, tools enable our creativity to shape our world. From hand and head tools to digital and physical tools, and abstract and real toolsets, Tanween 2021 explores the role Tools have in our creative process and industries and crafting our creativity for the future.
Date: October 27, 2021 – November 13, 2021
“Work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along.” - George Herbert, poet.
Join us for Ithra’s unique Tanween 2021 moments. We will use drones that present interactive experiences between audiences and the drones; to create pictures and shapes in the sky through words written in light, and views and texts that can be moved around by controlling drones around Ithra. There will be more than 1,500 people and 300 drones, where we will produce the first light images created by humans and drones working together. Share the experience with us, and be part of our Tanween moment!
Get social, expand your circle and connect at Tanween. Meet with peers, mentors, and professionals to build your network of connections at our meet-up events. The future is creative, arm yourself with the tools to succeed and carve your path forward with our Tanween Creative Careers program.
No Tanween would be complete without offerings in music, art, live performances, and interactive installations set to inspire creativity. Ithra’s Great Hall will become the hub for Tanween in 2021. With its copper walls and star-lit ceiling, the space will provide an auditorium to host professionals devoted to giving back, six demonstration zones to recycle, 3D-print, materialize and visualize.
