The Speaking Oasis functions as a tribute to al-Hasa Oasis. The largest natural date palm oasis in the world, understood as a historical and ecological center that has long shaped movement, exchange, and settlement in the region. Drawing directly from the material vocabulary of the oasis, the piece employs elements derived from the palm as both medium and reference, allowing the landscape to articulate itself through its own resources.

The resulting form is conceived as an architectural abstraction of al-Hasa Oasis, legible to the viewer as a spatial and material translation of place. In this sense, the work positions itself as an ode of thanks toward the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia and its oasis, which has endured over time as a living symbol of natural continuity, cultural authenticity, and sustained generosity.

A gesture echoing the palm’s crown; vital, flourishing, and alive.

Nadid features looped ribbons of khoos tighten around the neck of a handcrafted Argentine ceramic vessel, forming a lush, rhythmic bloom. Clay bears the marks of the hand and the patience of time, while the woven loops speak of movement and abundance. Together, they form a celebration of the palm’s generosity, the fruitful meeting of earth and hand, patience and growth.
