Brief

Musical Swings is an urban interactive installation that stimulates human connection in public spaces. Imagined as a collective experience, the work invites people of all ages and backgrounds to reclaim their city and make music together in this giant musical installation. Created in 2011, the instrument has become a celebrated icon of Montreal’s entertainment district, returning every spring by public demand.

Musical Swings has also toured worldwide and received international recognition: the grand prize at the UNESCO Shenzen Design Awards, Best in Show at the Interaction Awards and the Global Innovators Prize at the Knights Cities Challenge.

Everything you see at Ithra is, at most, only half the story. So, what if you had a chance to discover the other half? The Behind the Scenes tour takes you on an adventure to the theater’s backstage, the orchestra pit, the flying tower, and the green-screen room, as well as a peek into how the lighting systems works. You will feel a part of the theater’s live shows. The tour will also take you to explore the library’s stockroom, which houses up to 500,000 books. You will discover how the copper ceilings and walls of the Great Hall were built. You will reach the highest point of the Knowledge Tower and much more. Whether you are an engineer, designer, architect, student or just curious about architecture, the Behind the Scenes tour is for you!

Something really different to see in Saudi Arabia. Great atmosphere, amazing staff!

He was an expert but not in a discipline that anyone could fully appreciate. He knew how to hold the cone just right so that the soft server ice-cream fell into it at the precise angle to form a perfect cone each and every time. It had taken years to perfect and he could now do it without even putting any thought behind it. Nobody seemed to fully understand the beauty of this accomplishment except for the new worker who watched in amazement.

It seemed like it should have been so simple. There was nothing inherently difficult with getting the project done. It was simple and straightforward enough that even a child should have been able to complete it on time, but that wasn't the case. The deadline had arrived and the project remained unfinished.

Many many many thanks to Belle and Cindy. They really took the time to show me around and explain each and every section of the museum and helped me with the pictures even though I was alone. Will definitely come back.
