Ninety-nine lighted boxes made of recycled materials (2021)

After the artist, Rashed AlShashai, discusses our ability to transcend painful memories into future spaces and experiment with new forms of life as part of “49 Ways of Living,” he then reignites his work with the addition of 50 new boxes and changing structural forms. In the artwork “And 99 other options,” he experiences the difference from one person to another in building his dreams and hopes as these are dismantled into separate and combined parts in the form of cubes as a symbolic approach to human life, reflected in behavior, actions, styles, feelings, and so on. This is done through the perception that everyone has the right to rebuild the cubes of their lives in a way that satisfies and pleases them.
