Qur’anic calligraphy is admired for its exquisite geometric balance and for being a form of art, including various styles such as Arabic, Persian and Ottoman. Arabic calligraphy has reached heights of aesthetic achievement after being developed and refined over centuries by the greatest masters of calligraphy of their times. They used precise and proportional geometry for each letter and form, reflecting the extent to which Muslim architects focused on geometry and shapes as forms of art. This course is offered for history enthusiasts and those who are interested in calligraphy. No previous experience is needed.

1. Learn about Arabic characters, the alphabets and numbers, dots and character shaping
2. Understanding different script types of Qur'anic design
3. Understanding the types of Islamic calligraphy and how the writing styles differ from each other
4. Identifying and using proper tools and materials in calligraphy
5. Demonstrating calligraphic writing
6. Developing creative ideas on how to improvise Islamic calligraphy/Qur'anic drawing
