Zainab Abu Hussain is a Saudi multidisciplinary visual artist. Based in Riyadh, her artistic journey led her to her true passion: Islamic art. Moreover, she views Islamic art as integral to her identity and a reinforcement of her heritage. Furthermore, she skillfully combines respect for its authenticity with her own contemporary reinterpretation.
For Zainab, the strict rules of Islamic art are creative solutions that open vast artistic horizons. She emphasizes that Muslim artists have always adopted the latest technologies, an approach that allows her to seamlessly blend tradition with modernity. Certified in various disciplines, including Islamic Illuminations and Geometric Art, Zainab has participated in notable exhibitions and programs such as the Misk Art & Design Market, the Intermix Residency by the Saudi Visual Arts Commission, the Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts Show, and the Qatar International Art Festival. Additionally, Zainab was involved in both the Visual Arts Commission Mentorship Program and Misk Art Institute’s Masaha Residency. Her work uniquely reinterprets Islamic miniature paintings and illuminations, merging heritage with contemporary approaches.
