Abeer Seikaly
Creator of Studio Abeer Seikaly
Abeer Seikaly is a Jordanian-Palestinian interdisciplinary creator who founded Studio Abeer Seikaly in Amman, Jordan. She works across architecture, design, fine art, and cultural production.
Abeer’s practice is grounded in “acts of memory” such as journaling, documenting, archiving, and collecting, where she weaves narrative threads. Abeer draws inspiration from traditional knowledge from her homeland and travels to Jordan’s Badia desert, where she works alongside Bedouin women in textile weaving traditions. Her focus on indigenous Bedouin knowledge and practices seeks to rediscover the beauty of handmaking. She also engages with other communities and landscapes across the Arab region through their histories, materials, and practices, connecting her personal experience to collective heritage.
Seikaly is the co-founder of Amman Design Week (ADW) and the founder of ālmamar, a cultural experience and residency program in Amman, Jordan. She was appointed as the Louis I Kahn Visiting Assistant Professor at Yale School of Architecture and won the Lexus Design Award for her ongoing work, Weaving a Home. She is also the recipient of the Design Doha Prize 2024.
Her works have been exhibited internationally, including the Qatar Pavilion at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition in Venice, organized by the Future Art Mill Museum (2025).
