Fayrouz Karawya is an Egyptian musical artist and writer who holds a master's degree in Cultural Anthropology from the American University in Cairo in 2009. As a composer and music producer, Karawya has released five albums and about 40 solo songs since she began her independent music project in 2008. Her first book, The Construction of Chaos: Cinematic Representations and Politics in Egypt in the 2000s, was published in 2010. Her second book, Kol Dah Kan Leih: A Critical Narrative About Songs, was published in 2022 by Diwan Publishing in Cairo.

Karawya has managed a research group in the field of cultural policies, contemporary Arab music, and gender, in cooperation with a number of research institutions and centers. She is a regular contributor to a number of Egyptian and Arab platforms in the fields of music criticism and cultural analysis. She is currently preparing her doctoral thesis in the field of cultural studies at the Sorbonne University in Paris.
