Zahrah Al Ghamdi is a leading Saudi artist from Al-Baha in the southwest of the country. Having graduated in 2003 with a first-class degree in Islamic Arts at King Abdulaziz University, Al Ghamdi went on to work as a teacher before moving to the UK to study for her doctorate in art and design. Known for her large-scale works formed using natural and ephemeral materials such as earth, clay, rocks, leather and water, Al Ghamdi has exhibited internationally as well as creating site-specific works at the Venice Biennale and the British Museum. Her work is often likened to productions which resist the confines of the gallery space and explore ephemeral structures using natural materials set within vast landscapes.
