Farida Alhusseini is Director of the Islamic Arts Biennale, Diriyah Biennale Foundation. With over 14 years of experience in the museum and exhibition sector, Farida Alhusseini currently serves as the Director of the Islamic Arts Biennale at the Diriyah Biennale Foundation. Since joining in March 2021, she has been instrumental in orchestrating the inaugural edition of this prestigious event, which opened in January 2023. Farida’s career commenced at The King Abdulaziz Centre for World Culture (Ithra), where she made significant strides over a six-year tenure. In her role, she participated in the strategy development of the Museum’s multiple galleries, fostering collaborations with esteemed institutions such as The Natural History Museum, UK, The British Museum, and the American Association of Museums. In 2016, Farida transitioned to Riyadh as the Museum Director at the King Faisal Centre for Research and Islamic Studies. Over a three-year period, she led transformative projects including the implementation of advanced collection conservation and cataloging systems. Notably, she spearheaded the development of the internationally traveled exhibition “Faisal: A Life at the Heart of the 20th Century,” along with a range of temporary exhibitions including Wahj, Masahif Al Amsar, and Takwin. Farida holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Anthropology and Middle Eastern Civilizations from the University of Toronto and a Master’s degree in Narrative Environments from Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design, London.
