Course Brief Description:
The Art of Looking at Art is an innovative course that will answer an essential question: How do we look at art? What do we look for, and how do we articulate what we see?
If you are an artist, curator, art and culture manager, art critic and writer, art student, art fan or art appreciator, this course is for you. Through this course, you will develop a new way of examining art—seeing it through the eyes of an artist.
As we move through exhibitions, we might walk slowly or rush. When our eyes stumble upon something, we might stop and move closer. The body itself is a critical responder.
Art can also be noticed while distracted—while walking through the city or as art is hung on our walls at home—as we navigate our daily routines.
In this course, participants will explore and enjoy the experience of viewing art. How can they navigate art, and how far does it take them?
