Ali Saeed was born in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia in 1979. He began his career in journalism as a cultural writer and editor for Al-Riyadh newspaper, where he worked until 2017. Later that year, he transitioned into filmmaking as a writer and director. Among his notable works is the film An Old Phone Number, which won the Best Short Narrative Film Award at the Bahrain Film Festival.
The script for his film An Old Phone Number received the Best Short Script Award at the 7th Saudi Film Festival in 2021, and premiered in the following edition of the same festival as an opening film.
