Clare Davies

Associate Curator, Modern and Contemporary Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Davies joined the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York in 2015 as the museum’s first curator of Modern and Contemporary Art of the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey. She has built the foundations of The Met's collection holdings in this area and is the curator of Yto Barrada, Lyautey Unit Blocks (Play) (2018-2019) at The Met and the retrospective Siah Armajani: Follow This Line (2018-2019) at the Met Breuer and the Walker Art Center. She is also co-curator of Rayyane Tabet: Alien Property (2019-2021) with Kim Benzel, Curator in Charge of the Ancient Near Eastern Art Department at The Met and artist Rayyane Tabet. She holds a PhD in Art History from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University and devoted her dissertation to 19th and 20th century art in Egypt.
