Mansoura Ez-Eldin

Mansoura Ez-Eldin is a world-renowned Egyptian novelist and writer whose fictional and novel works have been translated into more than ten languages. She currently holds the position of Executive Editor-in-Chief at the Akhbar Al-Adab newspaper, alongside her work as an editor for the book section of the newspaper since 2003. She also supervises the Bustan al-Kutub Orchard of Books supplement, which is dedicated to book reviews and publishing issues.
She has published four short story collections: Shaken Light, Towards Madness, Refuge of Absence and The Museum of Errors. She has also published six novels: Maryam's Maze, Beyond Paradise, Emerald Mountain, Shadow Play, The Orchards of Basra and Disappearance Atlas.
Possessing a great passion for literary works, many of her pieces have been published in The New York Times; the British magazine, Granta; and the German newspaper, Süddeutsche Zeitung.
Due to her distinction and excellence, Mansoura Ez-Eldin was selected in 2009 as one of the best 39 Arab writers in the Beirut39 project.
Mansoura has also won numerous literary awards, including: The Ibn Battuta Prize in 2020 for her book, Steps in Shanghai, and the award for Best Arabic Novel in 2014 at the Sharjah International Book Fair for her novel Emerald Mountain. Additionally, she won the award for Best Egyptian Short Story Collection at the Cairo International Book Fair in 2014. Her novel, Beyond Paradise reached the shortlist for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction (IPAF) in 2010, while her novel, The Orchards of Basra, reached the longlist for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction in 2021.
Mansoura Ez-Eldin owns distinguished and extensive experience in journalistic and novelistic work; therefore, she is a great facilitator to those joining this course in terms of her expertise and her literary and artistic talent.
