Stories are an integral part of our lives; we use stories to share our thoughts, make persuasive statements and pass our opinions. Nonetheless, they are deemed as a distinctive element of what makes us human. Moreover, they are an essential element to bond with our friends and family, and strengthen our arguments when we give a speech. This course welcomes story lovers, teachers, speakers, librarians, kids’ center workers, and prospective authors to explore the basics of storytelling. The participants will study story narrative styles through acknowledging the meaning of the story, what makes it engaging and how they can use it professionally to support their argument and enrich their dialogue. Besides obtaining the essential skills and techniques needed to set a strong foundation for storytelling, participants will practice using various tones and set ups for storytelling. Moreover, they will use the skills they have accumulated throughout the course to tell a story to a listening audience, and in turn enhance their public speaking skills.

  • Obtaining the skills needed for reviewing and critiquing a story.
  • Choosing the right tone to tell a story in order to increase audience effectiveness.
  • Mastering gestures and body language regarding storytelling.
  • Practicing storytelling on stage and interacting with a live audience.

  • To practice using personal and engaging stories in one’s speeches.
  • To practice using body language and storytelling tools.
  • To master storytelling on a stage while interacting with an audience professionally utilizing the skills gained.

Mohammed Abu Obeid 

Mohammed Abu Obeid is a Palestinian-born journalist. He graduated from Birzeit University, where he majored in history and political science. While he was in Palestine, he worked in journalism. In 2001, he moved to Dubai to participate in the establishment of a radio station and head its news department. Furthermore, He joined Al-Arabiya during its establishment in 2003, to work as an editor. Impressively, for 8 years, he also presented the Sabah Al-Arabiya program, in addition to presenting news bulletins.
