Course Description:
This foundational jewelry course welcomes jewelry designers, artisan craftsmen, metalsmiths and jewelers to learn all about fundamental jewelry making techniques. By the end of the course, participants will be able to practice several jewelry techniques and translate their designs into wearable unique pieces of jewelry.
Course Objectives:
1- Introduce participants to jewelry techniques such as sawing, drilling, piercing, hammer texturing, filing, sanding and polishing
2- Utilize design templates
3- Draw to scale
4- Transfer designs to metal sheets
5- Create a set of jewelry (not just one piece, but two pieces that go together)
Course Outcomes:
1- To utilize the skills learned in physical practice
2- To complete two pieces of designed jewelry, made by hand from start to finish

Facilitators
Rania Samir
Rania Samir is a jewelry designer, visual artist and educator specializing in handcrafted jewelry that blends artistry, heritage and craftsmanship. A graduate of the Faculty of Art Education, she built her foundation through academic study, self-learning and years of hands-on practice across different artistic training. Her early
passion for art and design naturally evolved into a dedicated career in jewelry making. Rania further developed her expertise through advanced training with the Azza Fahmy Foundation and later at the Design Studio by Azza Fahmy. With over nine years of experience in the jewelry industry, Rania has established a distinctive style inspired by Egyptian cultural aesthetics, artistic influences and symbolic motifs translated into contemporary handmade pieces notable for their complex detail and craftsmanship. Alongside creating collections through her own handmade jewelry brand, she has contributed to a variety of jewelry projects and exhibitions. Rania is currently an instructor in the academic program at The Design Studio by Azza Fahmy, where she mentors upcoming designers and shares her expertise in jewelry making. She has also participated in international exhibitions, including a jewelry exhibition in Vienna in 2026, in addition to several art-related exhibitions
Noha Hamdy
Noha Hamdy is a multidisciplinar jewelry maker, artist and educator with a strong foundation in handcrafted arts. She graduated from the Faculty of Art Education, who studied a wide range of traditional art forms, developing skills in drawing, sculpture, ceramics and various handmade techniques. Her passion for creating by hand began at an early age and continues to define her artistic practice. With over 11 years of experience in mosaic art, Noha has worked on major national projects, independent commissions and large-scale projects affiliated with the Egyptian military. Alongside her professional work in mosaics, she also runs her own mosaic business, and even runs her own handmade jewelry brand. Expanding her artistic journey into jewelry, Noha joined Azza Fahmy’s Foundation for jewelry making and stone setting program, before continuing her studies at the Design Studio by Azza Fahmy through its Academic Program. Today, Noha has over 5 years of experience in jewelry making and education and currently serves as an assistant instructor in the academic program at the Design Studio by Azza Fahmy. Her extensive background in mosaic art heavily influences her jewelry work, giving her designs a distinctive identity through intricate details, strong craftsmanship and a unique artistic perspective.
