Precast refers to concrete elements that are manufactured and cast in molds off-site, then transported and assembled on-site.

It’s often associated with standardization—efficiency, repetition and precision. It is widely used for its many advantages: high quality control, reduced construction time, cost efficiency, durability and the ability to produce consistent modular elements at scale. Yet beyond its industrial logic lies an untapped creative potential.

This workshop challenges the conventional perception of precast by repositioning it as a medium for artistic and spatial exploration. Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of precast construction, including material behavior, mold-making, casting techniques and assembly details, building a strong technical foundation.

From there, the workshop shifts into a guided creative process, encouraging participants to experiment with form, texture and composition. Through conceptual development and design iteration, they will explore how standardized systems can be reimagined into expressive, unexpected installation outcomes.
