Open until 12:30 am
Explore the wonder of light and its role in image-making -the science of optics- by testing, trialing, and fabricating your very own pinhole camera! This workshop explores the magic of analog photography through its most rudimentary form, and guides participants through the fabrication of a miniature camera obscura out of a simple cardboard box after learning the theories that govern light manipulation. After testing their pinhole cameras, they will create their own exposure using sheet film, and learn the chemistry of film processing in a darkroom before attempting to finalize their pinhole image. The workshop will also provide guidance on and materials needed to recreate the darkroom setting at home, encouraging participants to continue to experiment with DIY cameras and film processing.
