An early form of photography, cyanotypes are created by brushing solutions of light-sensitive iron salts, or Prussian blue, onto paper, which is then exposed to light before it is dried in the dark. The 180-year-old process was so central to the reproduction of design drawings in the early 20th century that it became the source of the word “blueprint”. This workshop will teach you how to prepare, print and process cyanotypes that have been exposed to light in contact with digital and/or analog negatives. Each participant will print a personal selection of digital negatives and one-of-a-kind artworks using a variety of paper, materials and methods and will also receive guidance on establishing a cyanotype workspace at home.
