Based on a short story by Hideo Furukawa, it follows a man searching for the shortest thing in Tokyo, only to discover it is a single syllable spoken by a dying man. The film explores themes of time and language through a visually innovative style. It was screened at the Directors' Fortnight at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.

Koji Yamamura (山村 浩二) is a renowned Japanese animation director, born in 1964. He is known for his unique style of experimental animation, often inspired by folklore and traditional art. His short film Mt. Head (2002) was nominated for an Academy Award, establishing him as a leading figure in independent Japanese animation. His other notable works include Franz Kafka’s A Country Doctor (2007) and Muybridge’s Strings (2011).
