Rashed AlShashai is a contemporary Saudi artist whose practice bridges the seemingly ordinary with deeper philosophical questions. His work reflects on how modernization reshapes the individual, how media refracts perception, and how consumer culture seeps into daily life. Each piece becomes a visual record of social change — mapping both the fractures and continuities of a society in transition.

Alongside his artistic practice, AlShashai has been an educator and cultural builder: a founding member of the Saudi Art Association and the Saudi Association for Art Education. In 2009, he founded the Tasami Center for Visual Arts in Jiddah, which he led until 2014. He served as an artistic consultant for the Madina Arts Center and exhibits internationally, and is now a consultant to many major arts and culture entities.
