Spanish tenor Pablo Garcia-Lopez is a rising star on the European opera and concert stages. Born in Cordoba in the Andalucian region, he began his studies in his hometown with tenor Juan Luque. Garcia-Lopez continued his studies at the Universitat Mozarteum in Salzburg, and the Centre de Perfeccionamiento Placido Domingo at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia, completing his training with John Norris in Berlin.

 

In both 2020 and 2022 he was awarded the Bandera de las Artes de Andalucia, and in recent years has performed on Spain’s most prestigious stages and at leading international opera houses including Royal Opera House of Muscat, Theatre du Capitole de Toulouse and Opera de Lausanne.

 

Garcia-Lopez’s fresh sound and delicate expressiveness are highly regarded, earning him key roles in many well-loved operas such as The Magic Flute, Cosi fan tutte and Don Giovanni.  In the 2023/2024 season at Opera de Lausanne he will make his role debut as Monostatos in Mozart’s Die Zauberflote. Pablo also has a love of new music and has performed in several world premieres of new operas across the globe.

 

Rutas, his first and widely praised solo album, was released in 2020, and features Spanish art songs from the 20th century.
