Nugamshi's research explores the evolution of traditional calligraphy and typography employing different techniques and unusual tools, such as brooms and spray paint instead of brushes. Despite intentionally breaking with convention, Nugamshi remains true to that tradition of calligraphy while encouraging dialogues within communities and looking into the spirit of Arabic letters.
Born in 1982 in Saudi Arabia, he has frequently performed live in the Middle East and in the United States. Nugamshi currently lives in Riyadh and is an art director for a local bank. he has presented performances in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan and the USA. He has participated in exhibitions in Saudi Arabia, UAE and the US.
