Michael Eickhoff

Michael Eickhoff studied history, sociology and German literature in Bielefeld and Paris. Since 2000, he has been a production manager, dramaturg, curator and lecturer at various theaters and universities. From 2010 to 2020, he was part of the artistic management team at the Schauspiel Dortmund. Here, he accompanied many productions, curated discourse series, festivals and international guest performances, and co-created the concept and funding of the Academy for Theater and Digitality.

 

 

Eickhoff is particularly interested in theater in discourse with various social actors, political activism, journalism and a variety of related disciplines of art. Since 2020, he has been part of the Academy for Theater and Digitality and is responsible, among other things, for networking and cooperation between art, science and business.
The Dortmund Academy is a globally unique model project for digital innovation, artistic research and technology-oriented training and further education for all genres of the performing arts. The focus is to explore how digital tools could be implemented on, in front of and behind the stage. Under the direction of Marcus Lobbes, the Academy, as the sixth department of Theater Dortmund, is working on artistic-technical research, prototypical development, application-related testing, practical advice, cultural-political discourse formation, and networking on a regional, national, and international level.
