Mansoura Ez-Eldin: Mansoura Ez-Eldin is an Egyptian novelist and short-story writer whose short stories have been translated to more than ten languages! Not only is she the current Deputy Editor in Chief for the Egyptian Akhbar Al-Abad literary newspaper, but she is also the editor of the book departments. As a successful author, Ez-Eldin has published three story collections, Shaken light, Towards Madness, and Shelter of Absence, as well as six novels: Mariam’s Maze, Beyond Paradise, Emerald Mountain, Shadow Play, Disappearance Atlas, and The Orchards of Basra. Nevertheless, she has also supervised the International Prize for Arabic Fiction Symposium in 2010 and 2011. Moreover, her work has been published in many popular international media platforms, such as the New York Times, Granta, Public Space, the German Sud Deutsche Zeitung, and the Swiss Neue Deutsche Zeitung. Ez-Eldin, who was chosen as one of the best 39 Arab writers under 40 at the 39th Beirut Festival, has won several distinguishable awards including the Best Egyptian Short Story Collection Award at the Cairo International Book Fair in 2014 and the Best Arabic Novel at Sharjah International Book Fair in 2014. Nevertheless, her short story collection, Shelter of Absence, was shortlisted for Al Multaqa Prize for Arabic Short Story in 2018 as well as Sheikh Zayed Book Award 2020, while her book Beyond Paradise novel was shortlisted for the 2010 Poker Prize for Arabic Fiction Finally, her book Steps In Shanghai won the 2021 Ibn Battuta Prize for Travel Literature, in the category of Contemporary Journey.
