Guo Gan

Originally from Shenyen in China, Master Guo Gan now resides in Paris, France. He is an internationally renowned erhu player, the erhu is a two-stringed bowed musical instrument, sometimes called a Southern fiddle. Gan has won many music awards throughout his career and in 2015-2016 received a French Order of Arts and Letters medal, the first Chinese folk musician and first erhu performer to ever receive this honor.  

 

Gan has played over 3000 concerts in more than 100 countries including performing in premiere venues such as Carnegie Hall, Paris Palais de Congres, and the Japan Tokyo Theater, often alongside extraordinary musicians, and renowned international orchestras. 

 

He has released more than 90 albums which integrate and explore different musical styles and genres including world music, classical, jazz, ballet, opera, modern, and pop, and his music has been included in many Chinese and Western Films.
