Filwa Nazer (b. 1972) is a Saudi artist who lives and works in Jiddah. Beginning as a fashion designer, she graduated from Milan’s Marangoni School of Fashion and Design. Despite success in the fashion industry, she remained set on a career as an artist. In London, Nazer attended life drawing and painting classes, which supplemented those given by the pioneering Saudi artist Safeya Binzagr in Saudi Arabia.

Through different media from digital print to collage and textiles, Nazer explores emotional and psychological responses to various contexts. Her multidisciplinary practice scrutinizes the boundaries between public and private spheres. More recently, Nazer has concentrated on experimental work, choosing textiles and sewing techniques to examine relations between the human body and its environment.
