Azhar Alsadiq

Azhar Alsadiq is a Saudi calligrapher and illuminator, born in Tarout island, Saudi Arabia in 1983. She has taken multiple training courses in Arabic calligraphy, specializing in Ruqa’a, Diwani, Naskh and Thuluth under the guidance of master calligraphers Hassan Radwan, Mustafa Al-Arab and Hussein Al-Qallaf. She has also studied gilding and illumination with Turkish illuminator Ayten Tiryaki and Musab Al-Douri.
Alsadiq has participated in numerous local and international exhibitions, including cultural events and exhibitions in the Eastern Province, organized by the Saudi Arabia Society of Culture and Arts in Dammam (SASCA), the IRCICA Arabic Calligraphy Competition in Turkiye (2009), and Saudi cultural days in Albania (2013), Italy (2013) and Brazil (2014). Her work has been consistently featured in the Sharjah Calligraphy Biennale (2016, 2018 and 2021) and the Dubai International Calligraphy Exhibition (2017). She also contributed to the Arabic Calligraphy Exhibition at the King Abdulaziz Public Library in Riyadh in celebration of the Year of Arabic Calligraphy (2021).


With a strong passion for education, she has conducted numerous workshops and training sessions on Arabic calligraphy, often held alongside art exhibitions. Most recently, in 2024, she led a workshop for calligraphers and artists participating in the Arabic Calligraphy Residency Program at Prince Mohammed bin Salman Center (Dar Al-Qalam), titled Islamic Illumination and Its Symbiosis with Arabic Calligraphy.  

  
Awards & Achievements
• First place in the Jewelry Design Competition for Founding Day, organized by Riyadiyat in 2023.
• Exhibited at the Dubai International Calligraphy Exhibition in 2017.
• Exhibited at the Permanent Art Exhibition at Al-Mousa Medical Tower, Al-Ahsa in 2013.
• First place in the Kufic Calligraphy Competition at the Saudi Arabian Society of Culture and Arts in Dammam (SASCA) in 2013.
• Best Artwork Award in the workshop “Creativity in Writing the Basmalah” in 2013.
• First place in Ruqa’a Calligraphy at the Dammam Calligraphy Competition held at the Saudi Arabian Society of Culture and Arts in Dammam (SASCA) in 2010.


Several of her works have been acquired by:
