Throughout this 4-day immersive course, designers, design students, calligraphers, educators and creatives passionate about Arabic typography and its modern applications are welcome to explore Arabic type design by merging traditional calligraphy with digital tools. Participants will study Arabic script history, develop hand-drawing skills and transform their sketches into digital type compositions. The final outcome is a fully realized Arabic type poster reflecting both cultural depth and modern design.
Course Objectives:
- Understanding the historical and stylistic context of Arabic type
- Developing practical skills in Arabic letter drawing
- Learning techniques utilized in digital glyph construction
- Bridging the gap between cultural expression with modern typography
Course Outcomes:
- To complete an Arabic type-based poster
- To create digital versions of Arabic letterforms

Fatimah Emad is a visual identity specialist with a focus on Arabic type design. She combines modern design with traditional calligraphic aesthetics with a mission to preserve Arabic heritage through contemporary design.
