This is an applied and professional cultural course in the art of pottery for the intermediate level. This engaging course, which spans five days, targets amateur beginner ceramicists or those with intermediate experience who love handicrafts. It is presented within an enthusiastic educational framework, aiming to deepen the understanding of handicrafts as a proud, inherited artistic and cultural practice. Additionally, this course focuses on developing clay modeling skills by expanding the knowledge of materials and tools, while enhancing the mastery of hand-building techniques. The course includes progressive practical applications that enable participants to refine their craft skills and develop aesthextic sense and artistic precision. It concludes with the production of pottery pieces that reflect the development and progression of the participant's artistic and cultural experience.

 

Course Objectives:

  • Introducing the art of pottery and its cultural value.
  • Differentiating between pottery and ceramics. and understanding the characteristics of each
  • Training on the skillful technique of wedging (kneading) clay.
  • Mastering the steps of throwing cylindrical shapes in small and medium sizes.
  • Skillfully crafting various pieces derived from the cylindrical form and its different rims.
  • Training on trimming tools and how to use them with precision.
  • Introducing coloring and glazing materials and their various application methods.
