About the Play
A contemporary Saudi play that visually and experimentally depicts the state of colleagues stuck in routine and psychological pressure. It tells the story of living in a stifling cycle within their offices and having to confront their internal conflicts, falling into a suppression that they cannot escape.
The play won the Best Show Award in the Contemporary Track at the Second Riyadh Theater Festival, in addition to Best Set Design and Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Tawq is the first Saudi work to be performed in Arabic at the 79th Avignon International Festival and the 2025 Edinburgh Theatre Festival, with support from the Ministry of Culture, represented by the Theater and Performing Arts Authority. The work features award-winning artists from previous editions of the Ithra Short Plays Contest.
