The pilot program started in the 2021-2022 season. It created its first training hub in partnership with King Fahd University for Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM). The initial cohort of 18 male and female students was drawn from public and private schools through a series of selection criteria. The training hubs for the program included specialist facilitators and a state-of-the-art research and development lab. The students went through an intensive training program with three teams chosen to go to the global final where they won the “Best Newcomers Award” in 2022.
