With a career spanning almost four decades, Joshua Bell is one of the most celebrated violinists of this era. He has performed with virtually every major orchestra in the world, and continues play as soloist, recitalist, chamber musician and conductor, as well as being music director of London’s Academy of St. Martin in the Fields.
Bell has recorded more than 40 albums — garnering Grammy, Mercury, Gramophone, and Opus Klassik awards — and was the featured soloist on the Academy Award-winning film soundtrack, “The Red Violin.” He has performed for three American presidents and for the sitting justices of the U.S. Supreme Court as well as performing as a street busker in Washington as part of an experiment.
In this performance, Bell will be accompanied by renowned Alessio Bax, who has played internationally and collaborated with conductors such as Marin Alsop, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Sir Andrew Davis, Yuri Temirkanov, Jaap van Zweden and Sir Simon Rattle.
