Open until 11:30 pm
This talk brings together Turquoise Mountain’s work with master artisans around the Islamic world. Turquoise Mountain is a charity established in 2006 by HRH Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales. Supporting artisan communities and revitalizing traditional crafts heritage is at the core of the organization’s mission, across our programs in Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and beyond. The knowledge and skills of generations are held by today’s custodians - masters, designers and makers who sustain their heritage craftsmanship and reimagine traditional approaches for contemporary contexts. The talk will explore process and practice in making objects for mosques and the reflections of artisans and apprentices on their work
