Ithra Joins Leading Global Entities at World-Renowned Frankfurt Book Fair
DHAHRAN, SAUDI ARABIA, October 18, 2022 –The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) announced its participation at the Frankfurt Book Fair, one of the world’s leading and largest book fairs and most prominent international trade show. Taking place October 19-23, 2022, Ithra will join other leading entities, organizations and businesses including Oxford University Press, Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, the Arab Publishers’ Association and the Riyadh International Book Fair to showcase its cultural, academic and creative offerings at the global platform.
Known for its role as a publishing and content trade platform, the Frankfurt Book Fair welcomes entities and individuals from around the world to engage, connect, network and showcase their offerings among peers, businesses and other stakeholders. The event offers content of all kinds, from novels and children’s books to scientific databases. It also provides a B2B networking platform that welcomes experts from global publishing, the technology industry and related creative industries such as film and games to showcase their products and connect. This year’s Frankfurt Book Fair is dedicated to an exchange of ideas and understanding through and beyond languages and culture under the theme: Translate. Transfer. Transform.
Through its onsite participation, Ithra will exhibit a booth showcasing its various products and offerings including its cultural publication Ithraeyat magazine, alongside the Center’s Content Initiative publications and books, E-Library QR codes, virtual tours of the Dhahran-based Ithra Library, as well as a talks space. An additional highlight is set to include a panel discussion at the Book Fair under the topic “The Status of Arabic Literature in the World” with Ithra’s cultural consultant Tariq Al Khawaji, Saudi journalist and author Yousef Al-Mohaimeed, and award winning Egyptian literary translator Semir Grees. Ithra is also hosting a book signing of Al-Mohaimeed’s novel Wolves of the Crescent Moon.
