As part of its Saudi National Day outreach efforts, the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) is bringing its creative vision to the streets of Khobar with a new place-making program titled The Market. The local farmer’s market in Al-Ulaya will be revamped and amped up by Ithra. In addition to upgrading the farm fare kiosks, Ithra will add an artistic touch to the area along with spaces for art, music, performance and public seating. Additionally, Ithra will curate installations and street art at The Market, making it into an appealing place for the people of Khobar and a more booming opportunity for the local farmers.

The Market aims to revive an important – though under attended – local area into a place of vibrancy and artistry. The goal of the community outreach effort is to remind Saudi society about public possibility while it acts as an offsite beacon for Ithra’s mission to be a source of creativity and inspiration.
