Ithra Theater Showcased the AO Show During Vietnam Cultural Days Festival

-          The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) hosted the thrilling Vietnamese AO Show across the Ithra Theater stage.

-          The AO Show depicts Vietnamese village life and the rapid race against urbanization.

DHAHRAN, SAUDI ARABIA- FEBRUARY 9, 2020: As part of its Vietnam Cultural Days program, the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithra) welcomed the thrilling Vietnamese AO Show, for first time in the Kingdom. The show, performed at the Ithra Theater from February 5 to 8, captivated audiences through symbolic storytelling and action-packed entertainment incorporating graceful dance, daring acrobatics, and recreations of authentic Vietnamese tribes.

Through its entertaining choreography and its portrayal of unique Vietnamese culture, the AO Show offers a diverse performance combining sensational storytelling, authentic set pieces, an immersive display of stunts and incredible art execution. AO derives from the Vietnamese word ‘Lang Pho’, which means ‘village and city.’, as the performance provides a deeper understanding of Vietnam’s struggle with tradition and modernization.

Commenting on the AO Show, Majed Z. Samman, Ithra’s Head of Performing Arts, said: “The Ithra Theater’s objective is to offer visitors a cultural access point to high caliber global performances that broaden cultural horizons further, as we have provided our audiences 14 successful shows from 10 different countries. We are excited to deliver a new cultural experience to the Kingdom for the first time as we delve into the uniqueness of East Asian culture. The AO Show has performed internationally for over 200,000 people across 12 countries. Adding the AO Show in our ever-growing list of offerings provides us the opportunity to connect with and promote Vietnam’s beautiful culture right from our stage.”

Ithra’s world-class theatre plans to host more than 11 shows on its stages in the year 2020, to initiate new dialogues and to intrigue different curiosities, as part of its mission of instilling the value of creativity to its audiences. Ithra’s theatre stage offers artists a platform to display their ingenuity, as a part of the centers mission to stimulating its audiences creative thinking and expanding their cultural horizons.
