Nasser Al Salem is an internationally renowned Saudi artist whose work focuses on the Arabic written word. Having studied architecture at Umm al-Qura University in Makkah, Al Salem went on to study calligraphy at the Grand Mosque of Makkah where he received his ijazah in 2012. He has participated in many prestigious exhibitions both in Saudi Arabia and abroad and his work is found in major international collections, including the British Museum, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and Ithra in Dhahran. Al Salem’s art principally explores the versatility and adaptability of traditional Islamic calligraphy through its presentation in new contexts and media.
