Akram Zaatari

Akram Zaatari is a filmmaker, photographer, archival artist and curator. Zaatari has produced more than 50 films and videos interconnected by the theme of documenting political history and war. Zaatari and his work have played a critical role in developing the infrastructure of Beirut’s contemporary art scene. As a co-founder of the Arab Image Foundation, he has made invaluable and uncompromising contributions to the wider discourse on preservation and archival practice.

His work has been widely exhibited worldwide in biennales and venues such as the Centre Pompidou and is in the permanent collection of museums such as Tate Modern and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary.
