The Southern Border Initiative seeks to develop knowledge and creativity of 20,000 young people from the regions of Najran, Jizan, and South Asir. The initiative was announced earlier by the Minister of Energy, in 2016 during the inauguration of Ithra by his majesty, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, where four augmentation programs were announced: iSpark, Ithra Lab, iInspire, and iDiscover.
iSpark is considered to be one of the first initiatives for the southern region of the Kingdom. It is an educational program that targets 60 schools and 3,000 students of both genders in the cities of Sharorah, Najran, Sarat Abidah, Dhahran Al Janub, Jizan, and Sabya. Over 45 thousand hours of inspiring educational scientific experiments were demonstrated by a Saudi team, who were trained on the program content by the most prestigious educational centers that specialize in training for exciting modern methods of teaching.
Ithra Lab is a mobile exhibition shifting between Najran and Jizan, aiming to inspire and enrich 5,000 annual visitors through interactive scientific experiments in the fields of science, mathematics, engineering, and technology.
iInspire is a public event within the regions of Jizan and Najran, filled with inspiring events for the youth to boost their creativity principles, along with their persistence, success, and citizenship values. The event targets 1,000 young adults to enrich their thoughts and inspire their imaginations.
iDiscover is a sustainable educational and training center in Najran and Jizan for teachers, as well as students in the fields of science, mathematics, engineering, technology, English language, and building personal skills. iDiscover targets 10,000 students and 1,000 teachers per year through 165,000 educational hours, in gender-segregated centers.
