Flipbooks, originally called kineograph, is one of the earliest forms of interactive multimedia, having been patented in 1868. Flipbooks consisted of simple drawings stacked in sequential stages of movement with a single staple binding. When the pages were flipped, they looked like moving images. Flipbooks continue to be used in marketing by companies such as Disney and McDonalds.
